Travel to Finland, Enjoy the Fun Land

December 25th, 2009

When you hear the name of Finland, you may consider the word as fun-land via the pronunciation. But if you have chance to travel in Finland, you must admit that how fun here is! Finland is called the hometown of Santa Claus and there are many lakes in the country. Additionally, the forest cover rate in Finland is reach up to 97%.

Because of high forest cover rate, the first impression given by Finland is that is a world of green. Lakes are surrounded by green and so do the houses and highways. In my opinion, camping at here is so fantastic that you can have a drink, have sunshine and above all have a comfortable rest. Because of the beautiful and comfortable environment, your heart will be cleaned up and become calm. In summer, whether near the sea or lake, there is abundant sunshine and people from all over the world come here to enjoy the sunbathing.

Sauna is a feature of Finland and there is a sauna contest every year. Sauna lovers from different countries would join the crazy contest to feel the heat 110 °C and challenge the limits of their own. For audiences, they are not free. They usually bring their self-made instruments, knock and shout crazy before the game. The most popular rock songs are broadcasting, children are dancing with the songs and people, whether contesters or spectators, are talking with each other joyfully. After the match start, the atmosphere at here began to become more and more warmer. No matter how long you insisted, the warm applauses will for you. Besides the sauna contest, there are large sauna rooms in every hotel. Many people also have their own sauna room at home. In a word, sauna has been fully integrated into the Finnish life.

No matter which region you visit when you go camping in France, there is always a chance that it might rain. But what should you do when those black clouds begin to form? Here are a few ways to keep the kids entertained if and when the heavens do decide to open.

The Haribo Museum

Located in Languedoc, the Haribo Museum not only provides you with shelter from the elements, but will be your children’s idea of paradise. On entering the museum you will be given a bag of sweets and treats in exchange for your entry fee. This bag also includes tokens that can be used in the various sweet making machines that you will encounter on your way through the museum. With interactive displays guiding the children through every step of the sweet-making process, there are hours of fun to be had. Displays such as ‘the marshmallow lady’ will fascinate the entire family. At the end of the trip, watch the children’s faces light up as you enter the gift shop, but be sure to keep them active for the rest of your time camping in France, in order to burn off all that sugar!

Tips on Planning a Caribbean Vacation during Hurricane Season

November 21st, 2009

When one dreams of a Caribbean vacation, sunbathing, water sports, and spending lazy afternoons on a hammock under the trees is what springs to mind. But a hurricane can down the shutters even on those simple pleasures, let alone popular activities like snorkeling and SCUBA diving.

So what is the strategy to plan a vacation in the Caribbean during hurricane season?

• Hurricanes in the Caribbean are more common in the months of August, September and October, though the official season is from June to November. Scheduling a holiday early in the season (June or July) or at the end of the season in November considerably reduces the risk of running into a hurricane while you are there.
• Choosing a Caribbean destination like Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Trinidad, Tobago or Barbados is wiser, since these islands are rarely hit by hurricanes.
• Check for information on the start of the rainy season in your destination choice – Curacao’s rainy season starts in October, whereas Aruba and Turks and Caicos islands get very little rainfall while in St. Lucia, the rainy season coincides with the hurricane season. Increasing Your Chances of Getting Airline Travel Vouchers

Author: Tom Herry

Needless to say, having airline travel vouchers is every traveler’s dream. Unfortunately, turning this dream into reality can be quite a tedious task, not to mention full of hassle. You can get airline travel vouchers if you sacrifice your seat to another passenger and just book the next flight instead, and this can be a bother. But if you have a flexible schedule, why not give it a try? You may just find yourself having some extra pocket money because of discount travel vouchers.

If you think that your schedule can accommodate a little delay, then focus all your energy on getting bumped from a flight. This is something that normal people don’t usually do, so it is likely that you will be the first one to give up your seat and have travel vouchers for sale.

Reserve a seat on a flight that is likely to be full, such as those flights during the weekends, between 7am and 10 am, and 4pm and 7pm. Usually, flights during Monday mornings and Friday afternoons are fully booked, so book your ticket here.

When it is already time for your flight, arrive early so that you can inquire if your flight is overbooked. This way, you can volunteer yourself to be the first one to be removed from the passengers. Remember that discount travel vouchers are actually given on a first come, first served basis, so being on top of the list does have its advantages. If you really have a lot of time in your hands, you can do the same procedure all over again if your rescheduled flight is also overbooked. That way, you get two airline travel vouchers, which can save you a lot of money.

Airline travel vouchers are not only good for airplane tickets. In fact, you can ask for a meal voucher if your rescheduled flight is set a few hours later. A meal voucher is accepted in all airport restaurants, so you can actually have your pick. You can even ask for a hotel voucher if your flight is rescheduled the next day.

The validity of discount travel vouchers is normally one year from the issue date, so make sure that you use them before they expire. They are usually applicable for local flights, since international flights are governed by a different set of rules.

Discover Rural Thailand By Trekking Around Chiang Mai

November 20th, 2009

The northern Thailand city of Chiang Mai, known as “The Rose of the North” by locals due to its beauty and friendly people, is the capital of Chiang Mai Province. This bustling place is an important historical city and full of traditional and modern Thai culture. It is also the base for many tours and treks to the hills and mountains of northern Thailand.

Getting to Chiang Mai is fairly straightforward; the real travelling comes when you are on your tour. International flights to Thailand usually drop you off at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport so you may choose to spend some time soaking up the sites of this famous city and then moving on to Chiang Mai Province. From Bangkok there are plenty of ways to reach Chiang Mai, with regular flights, buses and trains to the city. Travel time by plane is just over an hour, train is between 11 and 15 hours (first class sleepers are fairly cheap though, but popular so book ahead) and the bus is around 10 hours.

After you have spent a few nights in your hotel room in Chiang Mai, maybe visited one of the city’s famous markets or temples and enjoyed some traditional Pad Thai, you can embark on your adventure. There are many different ways of touring the north. Some choose to go as part of a group, or hire a guide. You can also choose to drive yourself. This may seem like a scary prospect, but the rentals are very reliable and the roads are pretty well maintained.
