Explore Abroad with Car Hire

January 28th, 2010

When I was a little kid, perhaps I was a couple of years, I always wanted to discover the world. What I mean is that I really want to go around the world. The reason why I was so interested to do that is because I often watch movies from different countries when I was a little kid. From those various movies, I found that every country has different culture, has different places to see and it motivated me to travel around the world. But, when I grew up, I realized that my dream is far from reality. I thought that traveling around the world is very unaffordable. Yes, it’s true, travelling around the world is very unaffordable, the cost is too expensive: the price of flight ticket is too expensive that I cannot afford it. But, it doesn’t mean that I could not make my dream comes true. If you are planning to hold a vacation (whether with your family or with your friend), you can follow my tips on affordable holiday.

For me, it doesn’t matter where you are going to spend your vacation or holiday; the most important thing is about your budget. It’s okay if you want to visit North Pole if you have enough budgets to afford the flight, and also buy thick sweater and layered jacket. But, the most important thing to know is about your transportation once you have arrived to your destination. What transportation you are going to take to enjoy your holiday? I recommend rent car hire service. By renting a car, I’m sure that you are going to have a comfortable holiday. Carhire 3000 is the best car rental service which is available throughout the world. Be it in America, England, Germany or India, Carhire 3000 is always ready to rent you a comfortable car.

Travel To Lanzarote – The Island of Fire

January 21st, 2010

There are some fantastic holiday destinations is Spin. But few of them can match the Canary Island of Lanzarote for dramatic and surreal scenery. As this small island was rocked by massive eruptions during the 1730´s which irrevocably altered its terrain – transforming much of the island’s interior into an eerie lunar-scape.

Lanzarote is one of the seven islands that comprise the Canarian archipelago. A Spanish owned territory that is located off the West coast of Africa. A location that helps to create a fantastic climate all year round and which is often likened to an eternal Spring. With temperatures averaging at around 22 Celsius whatever the time of year.

Package tourism first took off in the Canaries during the 1970´s and Lanzarote now welcomes around 1.5 million visitors every year. The majority of them from the UK, Eire and Germany. With accommodation in Lanzarote concentrated in the three main resorts of Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise. Which is where tourists will find the largest selection of villas in Lanzarote.

Along with a wide range of Lanzarote holiday apartments.

But despite its popularity Lanzarote still remains relatively untouched by tourism. Especially in relation to the larger islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria. As high rise construction was banned here during the 1970´s, along with advertising hoardings. Whilst tourism is well contained. Leaving Lanzarote much as nature intended.

Which is just as well – as the island has been blessed with an abundance of natural, if slightly unconventional, beauty spots. The most famous of which is the Timanfaya National Park – home to hundreds of square kilometres of twisted lava fields and spent volcanic peaks. Which were created by a six year eruption during the 1730´s.

At the time these events obviously caused a great deal of devastation and hardship. With many Lanzaroteños forced to flee and start new lives abroad. Today however the surreal scenery of the Montañas del Fuego – or Fire Mountains as they are called locally – is the number one tourist attraction. Welcoming close to one million visitors a year.

Elsewhere on the island a local artist called César Manrique succesfully fused this twisted terrain with his own creativity to develop a series of unique attractions. Such as the Jameos del Agua – a collapsed lava tube which Manrique converted into a massive underground auditorium and concert venue during the late 1960´s.

This project was hailed as the “Eighth Wonder of the World” by the visiting Hollywood legend Rita Heyworth and really helped to put Lanzarote on the map for the first time, winning plaudits and acclaim worldwide.

Before his untimely death in 1992 Manrique created a further six similar attractions around the island. Helping to secure UNESCO protected biosphere status for Lanzarote in the process.

Ski Vacations with Ski Clubs

December 27th, 2009

There are many different types of clubs throughout the world. In fact, there is a club or organization for just about everything that you can imagine! Skiing is no exception. Ski clubs are a great way to learn new things, and to go on ski vacations with other members. In fact, ski club members often get discounted rates on ski vacation packages.

No matter where you live, there is a ski club near you. This is true even if you live in a place that does not ever get snowfall! These clubs regularly get together for trips to various mountains, ski areas, and ski resorts. Some are local clubs, meaning that the slopes that they ski on are within driving distance, while others are more national or global, which means that they not only ski locally, if possible, but they also plan ski trips.

Again, members of ski clubs often receive deep discounts on ski vacation packages. Arrangements are usually made through the club, so that everyone is eligible for the discounts. The money that is required from each member for the trip is usually paid to the club, and the club passes the funds on to pay for lodging, airfare, meals, lift tickets, and other perks that are included in the trip. Because arrangements are being made for a group of people– which is usually fairly large – discounts are given. This benefits all members of the club.

A Buddhist Break in Sri Lanka

December 27th, 2009

Today, about 70 per cent of the Sri Lankan population practises Buddhism. According to Sri Lankan tradition, the faith was introduced in the 2nd Century, during the reign of King Devanampiyatissa and although it has seen periods of decline in times of colonialism, it remains the most prominent faith to this day. Buddhism in Sri Lanka is primarily of the Theravada School – the “teaching of the elders” – which is not only the oldest surviving school, but the one that is most faithful to early Buddhism. On Sri Lanka holidays, you will see not only see the vestiges of Buddhism scattered around the country in the form of relics, ruins and statues, but you may have the opportunity to interact with the monks at one of the many Buddhist celebrations.

Anuradhapura

The city of Anuradhapura, once the capital of Sri Lanka, contains some of the most sacred Buddhist sites in the country and is the first stop for anyone taking Sri Lanka holidays and interested in the Buddhist culture. It is said that Anuradhapura is home to the Sri Maha Bodhi tree, a sapling from the original Bo tree. This was the tree under which the Buddha himself received “enlightenment”, and pilgrims from all over the world are drawn to visit this sacred site. The Atamasthana (8 places of worship) in Anuradhapura are the main Buddhist attractions, and include monastic ruins, dagabas and stupas, but by far the most impressive is the Samadhi Statue. Presiding over the Mahamevuna Park, this granite statue of the Buddha in dhyana posture stands 8 feet tall and leaves visitors experiencing a mixture of peace and wonderment.

Walking in the Lycian National Parks

December 26th, 2009

Shrouded in mystery and intrigue, the history of Lycia is not as clear or well-documented as that of many other cultures. However what is known is that the fierce independence of the Lycians, which was much admired by their Greek neighbours, led them to form the world’s first free government. While other city-states fought amongst themselves, the Lycian Federation kept the cities of Lycia in a peaceful unity that was envied by many other cultures. Today, if you are visiting Turkey, walks in the National Parks along the Lycian Way allow you to follow in the footsteps of these political founders and wander the ruins of their cities enjoying the same sense of peace that the Lycians cherished.

Patara National Park

Declared a protected spot in 1990, the ancient area of Patara is home to a wealth of wildlife. A key area of biodiversity, this National Park is well worth a visit. Located not far from the tourist regions of Kalkan and Kas, Patara is a fantastic place to take a break from your busy walking schedule and enjoy some time on the beach. The 12 kilometre long stretch of beach, lined by the glistening Mediterranean Sea is one of the most peaceful beaches to be found in Turkey. Walks along the stretch of sand, and across the 190 square kilometres of the park afford you the opportunity to see some of Turkey’s finest birdlife. Hooded Crows, Honey Buzzards, and Bee-Eaters are just some of the weird and wonderful species of birds that you will find flying around the park. Those lucky enough will also catch a glimpse of the Loggerhead Turtle, which has long been known to choose Patara Beach as a favourite breeding ground. The presence of this endangered species has prevented development on and around the beach, allowing it to maintain its tranquil and un-crowded atmosphere. Once the most important naval and trading port in Lycia, Patara was a place of significance, and as such you will find some intriguing and impressive ruins in the area to explore.

3 Small But Special Markets in France

December 26th, 2009

A holiday camping in France is all about embracing the culture and traditions of the French. And what better way to do this than to spend a few days wandering through the stalls and traders of a traditional French market? In many other European countries, the tradition of the market is one that has been revived after dying down for many years. However, markets have been an integral part of life in French towns and villages for many years. Full of hustle and bustle, and wonderful things to buy, food and drink bought from a market really is the best way to eat when you’re camping in France. A market is also the best place to pick up those essential souvenirs and gifts to give to those back home. Here are a few of the smaller, yet delightful markets to be found in France.

La Trinite Sur Mer Fish Market

Trinite Sur Mer has long been known as a fisherman’s favourite location. For centuries, sailing races have been held between fishermen in this small and sheltered harbour. However, the real appeal of this quaint little harbour town is the wonderful freshly caught fish. Dine out in any one of the fish restaurants lining the waterfront, or for a real taste of camping in France, buy some fresh produce from the local fish market and cook over a campfire. Oysters are the pride of the markets, but the stalls are covered with many different varieties of freshly caught fish and shellfish. If you’re up early enough, you might just see the fishermen dropping off their catch first thing in the morning – knowing the fish is freshly caught gives it an even better flavor.

Three of the Best Places to Cycle in France

December 26th, 2009

With a grand total of 28,000 kilometres of cycle routes, France is undoubtedly one of the best destinations for cycling. Dedicated paths meander through both town and countryside, and vary in terms of difficulty. You don’t have to be of Tour de France standard to enjoy cycling while you’re camping in France. Whether you are looking to push yourself in an endurance ride through the mountains, or to take the whole family for a jaunt through the countryside, there is a bike ride in France made for you.

The Loire Valley

A loop of the Loire Valley is one of the most popular cycling choices in France. Taking between four to six days, this well-travelled route covers approximately sixty miles of the Loire Valley, and explores the renowned Chateaux of the region. There are few routes that include so many worthwhile sights in such a concentrated area. Steeped in the history of conflicts, these feudal fortifications have seen many battles between Kings, powerful nobles, and even religions. Take a break from your bike ride to wander through a castle on foot, and explore the grounds; with many of the fortifications kept well preserved, you will feel as if you have stepped back in time. Back in the saddle, you can enjoy both peace and some gentle exercise as you cycle on the banks of the River Loire itself. Roads in this region are not only incredibly picturesque, but also relatively empty. Any cycling that you do whilst camping in France’s Loire Valley will be relatively safe and stress-free.
